Protective Mom Cristin Badal isn’t backing down. After exposing her ex-husband, former politician J. Bradley Badal, and his deep ties to the Morris County political machine, she now faces a legal assault aimed at silencing her.

Speaking on SLAM THE GAVEL with Maryann Petri, Badal detailed how the courts are being used as a weapon against her—and how a massive anti-SLAPP lawsuit could be coming for those trying to shut her up.

“This is nothing more than judicial terrorism,” Badal said. “My ex is using his connections to try to censor journalism and suppress free speech. But I won’t be silenced.”

NJ Legal Mafia EXPOSED: The Anti-SLAPP Showdown

On the podcast, Petri and Badal dissected the strategic use of SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) tactics to stifle reporting on the case.

“They don’t want the public to know what’s happening in Morris County,” Badal said. “This is bigger than me. They’re coming for anyone who dares to speak out.”

Who’s DIRTY in MORRIS COUNTY?

Petri agreed.

“The fact that they’re going to these lengths means they have something to hide,” she said. “People don’t try to shut down the truth unless they’re afraid of it.”

The latest salvo in this legal battle? An Order to Show Cause filed by Badal’s ex-husband, seeking to seal the entire case record, block journalists from reporting on it, and gag Badal from speaking about her own life.

Judge Oliviera? Or is it really Judge Bogaard making the decisions and calling the shots?

“This is a First Amendment disaster,” Badal said. “They want to wipe the internet clean of anything that exposes them.”

Jessica Sprague: A Lawyer in Deep Trouble?

At the center of the censorship push is Jessica Ragno Sprague, Badal’s ex-husband’s attorney, who may have put herself, her firm, and her client in serious legal jeopardy.

Jessica Sprague is visiting with her kind in preparation for her beach vacation.

Sprague filed motions demanding that publications—including The Foundation for Child Victims of Family Courts, Family Court Circus, and even SLAM THE GAVEL—remove their reporting. She also asked the court to prohibit Badal from speaking publicly and to force her into a psychiatric evaluation or risk losing access to her child.

“This is pure intimidation,” Badal said. “They’re trying to silence journalists, gag me, and paint me as crazy—because they can’t refute the truth.”

Legal experts say Sprague’s moves could backfire spectacularly. The First Amendment vigorously protects journalists and whistleblowers from prior restraint—government attempts to silence speech before it happens. And New Jersey’s anti-SLAPP laws could open Sprague, her law firm, and her client to a significant civil liability lawsuit.

“If they think they can bully the media into submission, they’re in for a rude awakening,” Badal said. “A lot of powerful people are about to get hit with an anti-SLAPP lawsuit.”

NJ Legal Mafia EXPOSED: The Morris County Machine

Badal’s fight goes beyond the courtroom—it exposes what she calls “Morris County’s Legal Mafia.”

“This isn’t just about my ex-husband,” she said. “This is about a political network that includes corrupt judges, high-ranking politicians, and attorneys who will do anything to protect their own.”

Among the names she called out:

According to Badal, the entire machine is designed to protect the powerful and punish those who expose them.

“I was married to one of them,” she said. “I’ve seen how this system works from the inside. And now they’re using it against me.”

The Censorship Attempt Backfires

The attempt to gag Badal and the press has only drawn more attention to the case. Multiple media outlets are now investigating, and legal experts are raising alarms about potential constitutional violations.

“This is exactly why anti-SLAPP laws exist,” Petri said on the podcast. “To stop people from using the courts as a cudgel against free speech.”

Badal’s message to the Morris County establishment? She’s not going anywhere.

“You can try to erase the truth,” she said, “but the more you fight to silence it, the louder it gets.”
